Do Ho Suh

do ho suh

Suh built a world from memory’s architecture.

His translucent fabric houses and corridors reproduce spaces he once lived in — portable structures of identity and displacement.

Each stitch maps belonging through measure, intimacy through scale. In his world, transparency is home: a structure made from remembrance.

How does memory become architecture here?

In Do Ho Suh’s work, architectural space is reconstructed at full scale using lightweight, translucent materials. Rooms, corridors, and thresholds are reproduced according to precise bodily measure.

Dimensions correspond to lived proportion rather than idealized plan. Walls define enclosure without weight; boundaries remain permeable.
