Numerical progression is traditionally regarded as abstract counting; in Roman Opalka’s work, it functions structurally to render duration as visible form through uninterrupted sequence.
Each number accumulates, intervals register, and the surface records temporal progression without narrative. Difference is incremental, and continuity is perceptually legible.
