Kwon Young-Woo

kwon young woo

Kwon built a world from punctured silence.

By tearing, creasing, and dyeing Korean mulberry paper, he allowed light to inhabit fiber.

His works balance control and yield, gesture and void.

In his world, material itself meditates — paper breathing as form.

How does material intervention structure surface here?
This is some text inside of a div block.

Material intervention is commonly treated as expressive manipulation. In Kwon Young-Woo’s work, tearing, creasing, and pressing paper functions structurally to generate surface form through direct interaction with the material.

Material resists, actions leave trace, and relational intervals register through fiber so that the surface operates as a system shaped by force rather than imposed form.
