In Carla Accardi’s work, repeated signs operate across transparent supports such as plastic and Sicofoil. Marks are distributed according to rhythm and interval rather than compositional center.
Transparency allows layers to register simultaneously. Surface is organized by repetition and overlap, with structure emerging through accumulation of signs rather than figure–ground hierarchy.
