Jack O’Brien builds a world where contact is staged but not completed.
Objects, panels, and furnishings sit close to use without settling into it, proposing relation without securing it.
In his world, proximity replaces access.

O’Brien’s work does not organize contact through completion. Instead, it builds structures where approach, touch, and use are proposed but not fully secured. Objects remain near function without settling into it, and relations stay active because they are not resolved.
This produces a quiet tension. Surfaces, supports, and spatial interventions behave like invitations that withhold arrival, allowing structure to register through delay, proximity, and partial access rather than direct statement.
