Watanabe’s work is organized through construction. Garments are built through systems of cutting, folding, and assembly that generate form through process. The body enters a structure defined by its method of construction.
This produces a dynamic condition. Panels shift, volumes expand or collapse, and garments transform as they are worn, allowing structure to register through movement, modularity, and reconfiguration.
